#Learn2Play ★★★ “Jo Bhi Main” (Rockstar) chords – Guitar Bollywood Lesson

The song Jo Bhi Main from Rockstar has a guitar riff that grows on you. I have heard it hundreds of times, yet I can never get tired. Mohit Chauhan's voice brings the pain of the situation depicted. Great music by A.R. Rahman.

Overall the song chords aren't much, however, the entire song depends on how well you play the guitar riff that repeats. In the tabs, I have noted down three variations. But in the song, there are more. Keeping the theme on Em7, they play around with those notes. If you come up with your own tabs, pls post them. For the guitar plucking part alone, I have marked the song three ★s.

Pritam always keeps the best for Emraan Hashmi starrer movies. And the combination of KK, Pritam and rock ballad has given us some pure gems over the years. This is not a rock ballad, but there's another version of the same song, thats called a power ballad version. This one lends well to be played on acoustic guitar, hence covering it here.

The song is fairly simple, some bar chords, and some plucking in slower parts, otherwise, its an easy song, yet melodious and a great love song to play on guitar. Hence two stars.

This week being the birth anniversary of one of the most influential music directors of past century, R. D. Burman, I wanted to cover one of his songs. Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na from the film Ghar. The Tabla played in diff scales is the most significant part of the song. Here, I played the Tabla beat on the guitar as an upstroke. But if played along with Tabla, its better to play two downstrokes on guitar and two beats on the Tabla.

R.D.Burman was a genius of sort. He experimented with different sound. The fact that many of his songs have been remixed, or given a new makeover 30-40yrs after they were originally made are just a sign of how much ahead he thought. The music steeped in melody, fairly complicated changes and hence the chord changes, amazing rhythm section (including an understanding of bass like no other music directors) are just some of the marks of his compositions.

While the chord changes are superb, even slightly more challenging part is to follow the rhythm. The changes in the chord are very critical to bring the rhythm out. Try it and you know what I mean.
