#Learn2Play ★★★ “Kaise Mujhe Tum Milgayee” (Ghajini) chords – Guitar Bollywood Lesson

2017-03-25

Kaise Mujhe Tum Milgayee from the movie Ghajini got to be one of the most romantic songs sung by Benny Dayal ever. There is an equally fine version of the song, sung by Mohd Irfan (See below), that is slightly in a diff scale. I was originally requested to cover that song, but chose this one, because structurally they are the same. All you have to do is put the capo at 2nd fret to be able to play on that scale. The song is composed by A R Rahman.

Credits:
Song - Kaise Mujhe
Film - Ghajini
Singer - Benny Dayal, Shreya Ghosal
Lyricist - Prasoon Joshi
Music Director - A.R. Rahman

Ease of playing: ★★★☆☆ (1: Easiest, 5: Toughest)

The version of Mohd Irfan, which is also a nice version. One semitone lower than the original version I have covered.

Poori Qaayaanat (Poorna), a mix of two musical styles

2017-03-22

What makes the music video of Poori Qaayaanat (film: Poorna) special is that they feature the very talented musicians and singers, featured in the video, like in a Coke Studio-ish setting. The song is a rehash of Salim Sulaiman's earlier Coke Studio production Cheene Re Mora Chain*, which was sung by Ustad Rashid Khan, and Salim Merchant. In this song, I like how a more contemporary rock voice of Vishal Dadlani and a soft classical voice of Raj Pandit has been used in this voice. In the Coke Studio version, pretty much the same musicians are featured, along with Warren Mendonsa, aka @Blackstratblues, who plays a slamming solo. Other musicians performing on Poori Qaayaanat are: Guitars - Nyzel D'lima, Sitar - Chirag Katti, Bass - Rushad Mistry, Keyboards - Salim Merchant, Jarvis Menezes, Drums - Darshan Doshi, Zen Drum - Sulaiman Merchant

Thanks to MusicAloud review to point out the Coke Studio rendition. Had seen it but didn't connect right away.

On another personal note, here's another awesome song from Poorna, Kuchh Parbat Hilayein by Arijit Singh covered by me (guitar instruction), on my channel.

Want to be a career guitarist? Check this masterclass by Ehsaan Noorani.

2017-03-21

Do you want to be a career musician? Do you want to play guitar for a living? Or is it just a serious hobby for you?
By far the best video I have seen on the topic. This separates a hobbyist from a professional. Ehsaan Noorani, a graduate of Musician Institue in Hollywood, says it as it is. The most humble, and very talented Mr Noorani, digs into his past, his passion, and both his success and failure of taking up music as a career choice.
This talk was conducted by SAM (Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music), for the celebration of World Music Day on June 21st, 2015. Ehsaan Noorani is a blues guitar player, famously part of the very successful music composer trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (SEL in short)!

#Learn2Play ★★ “Kaun Tujhe” (M S Dhoni) chords – Guitar Bollywood Lesson

2017-03-20

"Kaun Tujhe" is a very simple but melodious song from the film "M. S. Dhoni - the Untold Story". Sung by Palak Muchhal, who shot to fame with songs from Aashiqui 2 (covered a few songs earllier on this channel). Music by Amaal Malik is simple but effective as a love song. Being a soft romantic song, it'll be great to play acoustic plucking instead of strumming for most part of the song. Hence the 2-star rating. Else the chords are really simple and repetitive!

Credits:
Song - Kaun Tujhe
Film - M S Dhoni - the Untold Story!
Music - Amaal Mallik
Lyrics - Manoj Muntashir
Singer - Palak Muchhal

Ease of playing: ★★☆☆☆ (1: Easiest, 5: Toughest)

#Learn2Play ★★★ “Kuchh Parbat Hilayen” (Poorna) chords – Guitar Bollywood Lesson

2017-03-12

"Kuchh Parbat Hilayen" from the film Poorna is one of the most inspiring song (and a film) from the recent times. Based on the true story of the youngest girl to climb the mount Everest. The film is yet to be released, but I am so looking forward to it. Composed by Salim-Sulaiman, the music embodies the spirit of the story of the girl. And of course, Arijit Singh's singing, Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics are the icing on the cake.

A word about this music video. I loved the way it has been shot, by mixing the footages from the movie as well as the artist who played on the track. Most of the times, we don't realize the talented and hardworking artists who create these awesome music we are so in love with. This video does a perfect justice to show the real artist behind the track. Darshan Doshi (drums), Nyzel D'lima (guitars), Rushad Mistry (bass) and Jarvis Menzes (keyboards) are the musicians, and of course Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant too. Lovely backup line that creates a feel of gospel chorus singing during the end chorus parts.

Credits:
Music Composed & Produced by - Salim-Sulaiman
Lyrics - Amitabh Bhattacharya
Singer - Arijit Singh
Backing Vocals - Raj Pandit, Crystal Sequeira, Gwen Dias
Guitars - Nyzel D'lima
Bass - Rushad Mistry
Keyboards - Salim Merchant, Jarvis Menezes
ROLI Seaboard - Salim Merchant
Drums - Darshan Doshi
Marimba, Djembe - Sulaiman Merchant

Ease of playing: ★★★☆☆  (1: Easiest, 5: Toughest)

Here's the original song. Like I said earlier, the best thing about the music video is that they have shown the real artists behind making of such an inspiring song. I hope this becomes a trend.

#Learn2Play ★★★ “Chahun Main Ya Naa” (Aashiqui 2) chords – Guitar Bollywood Lesson

2017-03-03

"Chahun Main Ya Naa" (Aashiqui 2) is one of the finest love songs sung by Arijit Singh and Palak Muchhal. Music by Jeet Gannguli, this film released in 2013 was the launchpad of Arijit SIngh (though it wasn't his first Bollywood song). He has never looked back after that.

Will be great if you can get the beginning piano part on the guitar, otherwise the song is fairly straight-fwd. I am going with 3star so you should try to get the beginning progression.

Song: Chahun Main Ya Naa
Movie: Aashiqui 2
Singer: Arijit Singh, Palak Muchhal
