Lead guitar (solo) playing tip
2017-01-24
Many have asked about how to play a melody, a guitar solo, or to improvise! IMHO, playing a solo is not about how fast you play or how many notes you play in a second, it's all about how you emote! While techniques are great to learn in order to play a nice sounding 🎸 solo, it's essential to tell a story! Connect with the audience. One simple trick that has helped me is to play the melody lines on the guitar and try to emulate the vocals nuances. The advantage we have in Indian music is, we have tunes that are rich in vocals melody and variations. Playing them gives us a great practice as to how to vocalize your guitar solos. Different things work for diff people, but this is one way that has helped my leads playing immensely. Feel free to share your thoughts. The two part videos are below.
