#ArtistClips: Warren Mendonsa guitar solo on Pinjra
2017-04-05
So many guitar solos are played on Coke Studio sessions, and elsewhere, but some stay with you. Its all about the soul of the solo, and not flurry of notes, or count of notes per second, or even technicalities for that matter. Warren Mendonsa, aka @Blackstratblues has always come across as one of the best guitarists in India today, for the choice of his phrasings, improvisation, and soul. Listen to this.
The full song from Coke Studio MTV is here. Another aspect of the song that also shines is the vocal harmony section in the chorus part. No one lays a better vocal harmony than Clinton Cerejo. The Gospel influence shows in the richness of the vocals layers. Its amazing to say the least. While I am on the topic of vocal harmony, I have to mention that one other person, who also produces some of the best vocal harmony is Nandini Srikar. I have written about her in this blog elsewhere.
